The Vancouver Landfill (garbage dump), located directly in Burns Bog, is the final destination for garbage from 45% of Metro Vancouver. Last year alone over 1,250,000 tonnes of garbage were dumped into the Landfill adding another level to the seemingly endless mound.
Composting is an inexpensive and easy way of reducing up to 30% personal household waste.

The South Fraser Perimeter Road (SFPR) is a mega-construction project to expand capacity and connection from Delta Port to the new Golden Ears Bridge
. The Ministry of Transportation (MoT) states that this project will have numerous benefits to trade, provincial travel and to local communities. Residents of the communities where this project is being built—Ladner, Tsawwassen, Delta, Surrey—argue that not only is the project unnecessary, but that it will have devastating effects. These effects include expropriation, the loss of some of BC’s most fertile farmland, removal of land from the Agricultural Land Reserve, demolishing of heritage homes & archeological sites, potential health affects from pollution and the overwhelming consequences this road will have on Burns Bog.
